WORK EXPERIENCE

I was based in Delhi for last 12 years before moving to Hyderabad recently. I have been working as visiting  Oculoplasty specialist and Cataract surgeon at 3 centres in Hyderabad since August 2022. Being a private practice, I see around 15-20 patients in a day and operate 15-20 cataracts  in a week and perform 5-6 Oculoplasty surgeries in a month.

My longest previous commitment was as a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplasty specialist at Dr. Shroff’s Charity eye hospital for a duration of over 8 years. SCEH is a renowned tertiary eye hospital and teaching institute in North India with a legacy of over 100 years. It has several secondary centers over North India including Rajasthan (1), Uttar Pradesh( 4) and Himachal Pradesh (2). I had an average OPD of 120 patients per week ( including both comprehensive and Oculoplasty). On an average, I had been doing 800-900 surgeries per year which included cataract and Oculoplasty surgeries. I had monthly Oculoplasty visits to three of these centers where I used to do community screening camps, surgeriesand training of paramedic staff and vision technicians.

My areas of interest include micro-incision cataract surgeries and general and specialized oculoplasty surgeries including Socket reconstruction management (evisceration, enucleation, congenital and  acquired anophthalmic socket surgeries) and  eyelid surgery, dacryology ocular aesthetics procedures (Ptosis, Blepharoplasty, Botox  injection) Ocular trauma management.

Dr Shroff charity eye hospital is a teaching and training institute with Ophthalmology residency programme( Diplomate National Board) and speciality fellowships in all the departments with high standard of teaching and research. During my tenure, I was part of the Medical Education Department and was in-charge of the fellow induction program. I have worked as Cataract trainer for fellows and residents (DNBs). As a part of the Alcon Phaco Development programm (PDP), I have trained over 200 trainees in cataract surgery (SICS, Phaco, ECCE). Being a senior consultant in the department of Oculoplasty, I was responsible for the teaching and surgical training of Oculoplasty fellows and residents posted in the department. I was instrumental in setting up and was in-charge of the Socket Reconstruction clinic and the Ocularistry laboratory for last 3 years. I have been a post graduate thesis guide of DNB residents.

As part of academic and clinical research work, I have 19 publications in various indexed national and international journals. I have presented papers and posters in the various state level, national and international conferences.
